Message of the General Co-chairsWelcome to MOBILWARE 2008, the First International Conference on Mobile Wireless Middleware, Operating Systems, and Applications, in Innsbruck , Austria . This new international conference, MOBILWARE, is dedicated to addressing emerging topics and challenges in various mobile wireless software-related areas. Our ambition is to make MOBILWARE a premier international forum to present and discuss novel research and implementation results in middleware, operating systems, and applications for computing and communications in mobile wireless systems. We are pleased to see that the first edition of this conference, MOBILWARE 2008, received many high-quality submissions. As a result, MOBILWARE 2008 has a strong technical program. We are also pleased to remind that an exciting industry B2B event, M-SIDE, accompanies MOBILWARE with the aim of bringing together business and policy makers to have a clear overview of the state-of-the-art of the research and to exchange ideas/experiences. Many individuals have contributed to the success of MOBILWARE 2008. In particular, we would like to thank the Technical Program Chair - Dr. Paolo Bellavista, Publicity Chair - Dr. Janise McNair, Workshop Chair - Dr. Wenye Wang, Publication Chair - Carlo Giannelli, Conference Organization Chair - Zsuzsa Kaszab, Local Chair - Friedrich Hanser, and the entire program committee for their timeless efforts bringing together such a great program. We would also like to thank the members of the steering committee (Dr. Imrich Chlamtac and Dr. Carl Chang) for their guidance and advice. We would also like to thank ICST and Create-NET for making their resources and extensive conference organization experience to make this event a success.
